Jayson Kent gets spot minutes early in Blazers' 2026-27 season
Jayson Kent is not on Portland's injury report and has played in all three of the Trail Blazers' games so far this season, but only in short bursts. The 24-year-old forward is still searching for a real role after a thin five-game rookie look a year ago.

Kent appeared in just five games for Portland last season, averaging 4.5 minutes a night. The numbers in that small sample were efficient: 2.0 points and 1.0 rebound per game on 57.1% shooting from the field, 25.0% from three and a perfect mark at the free-throw line. His true shooting percentage sat at 67.2, with a 13.7 usage rate and a minus-0.6 plus-minus. It was a limited look for the 24-year-old forward out of Texas, more spot minutes than a real role.

Kent has played in Portland's first three games of the new season, against Golden State and Sacramento. He logged 12.4 minutes in the Oct. 16 loss to the Warriors, finishing with 3 points, 2 rebounds and an assist and a plus-6 mark. He had 9.2 minutes against the Kings on Oct. 13 and 3.5 minutes in the opener against Golden State on Oct. 7. He is not on the injury report, so the short stints have been a coaching decision, not a health issue.
