Middleton spent last season with Dallas, where he played 63 games and averaged 10.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 22.8 minutes. He shot 42.0 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from three and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line, numbers that added up to a true shooting mark of 53.3 percent. His usage rate sat at 19.8 percent, and his plus-minus for the season was minus-5.3. He also averaged 0.7 steals, 0.1 blocks and 1.7 turnovers per game. Those are last season's numbers with the Mavericks — Middleton is now with Washington for 2026-27, a change of team and jersey that puts him in a different role for the Wizards.

Middleton has already logged minutes for Washington to open 2026-27. On Oct. 16, he had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 13.9 minutes in a loss to New Orleans, finishing at minus-8.0. Before that, he was listed in games against Brooklyn on Oct. 12, Detroit on Oct. 10 and New York on Oct. 8, each showing 0.0 minutes. Washington won the Detroit and New York games and lost to Brooklyn. With Middleton now cleared off the injury report as of Oct. 17, the Wizards should have him available going forward after that stretch of games where he didn't see the floor.

The game log also carries entries from the end of last season, when Middleton was still with Dallas. On April 12 against Chicago, he scored 8 points with 1 rebound and 1 assist in 5.7 minutes in a win. He had 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 25.4 minutes in an April 10 loss to San Antonio.
