By the Clippers Nightly Desk · Friday, October 16

The Clippers waived guard Fletcher Loyer on October 16, a day after signing guard-forward Miye Oni, continuing the roster churn ahead of the regular-season opener. The roster keeps turning over before the opener.

Fletcher Loyer was waived October 16, one day after the team signed guard-forward Miye Oni in a transaction dated October 15. Hoops Rumors also reported the team added center Nathan Mensah in that same move, though he is not yet listed on the active roster. The churn leaves Los Angeles filling out depth spots five days before the regular season begins.

Niederhauser's foot injury thins an already short frontcourt.

Yanic Konan Niederhauser was listed Out on October 16 with a right foot and leg issue, targeting a return around November 8. With Isaiah Jackson his only healthy backup center, Brook Lopez has absorbed the difference: his minutes are up 8 a night over his last three games, and his scoring has climbed with them.

Kobe Sanders is shooting at a rate the roster needs him to sustain.

Sanders has posted a 73.8 percent true shooting mark over his last 10 games, a sharp jump for a player who was not shooting that well earlier this fall. He is questionable for the opener with a left hip issue, alongside Kris Dunn, who carries a rest-related question mark of his own.

The opener arrives October 21 with the payroll picture set.

Los Angeles opens the season at home against the Kings on October 21, then travels to face the Lakers on October 23. Payroll sits at $193.7 million, over the salary cap and under the $200.4 million luxury-tax line, with Darius Garland's $42.2 million the largest single number on the books.

Why did the Clippers waive Fletcher Loyer?

The move was made October 16, a day after the team signed guard-forward Miye Oni. No reason for waiving Loyer has been reported.

When is Yanic Konan Niederhauser expected back?

He was listed Out on October 16 with a right foot and leg issue, with a return targeted for November 8.
