The Clippers reached the day before the opener without a single change to the roster or the injury list. That silence settles who plays Wednesday and leaves every bigger question exactly where it was.

The injury list has not changed since Saturday.
Max Strus, Brandon Ingram, Bradley Beal and Yanic Konan Niederhauser remain out, each carrying the same November 8 return estimate. Jordan Miller's shoulder keeps him sidelined far longer, with a March 2 estimate. Ingram resumed on-court work on October 15, and no date for his first game has followed. Beal was moved from day-to-day to out on October 14 with the knee and leg issue first listed September 28. Nothing in the past 36 hours altered any of those lines.
Wednesday's rotation is thin, with a reported answer in the middle.
Hoops Rumors' Arthur Hill reported that Isaiah Jackson gets the opening-night job in the middle against the Kings. Around him, Darius Garland, Kris Dunn, Rui Hachimura, Derrick Jones Jr. and Brook Lopez are the healthy players who logged real rotation minutes last season. Kobe Sanders, cleared Saturday, closed last season with a 73.8% true shooting mark over a 10-game stretch, and he is the likeliest beneficiary of Beal's absence. The schedule does not ease in: at the Lakers on October 23, at the Thunder on October 25, then the Lakers again at Intuit Dome on October 28.
The payroll leaves room, but the draft board does not.
Payroll stands at $188.9M against a $200.4M tax threshold, with Garland at $42.2M and Ingram at $40.0M. Strus, at $16.7M, is the third-largest salary on the books and will not play before November. The pick sheet offers almost nothing to trade: swaps in 2027 and 2028, seconds owed to Utah and San Antonio, and the 2029 and 2030 firsts gone. Any in-season fix has to come from salary, not picks.
The beat is already debating next summer.
The Los Angeles Times framed the season as a rebuild that develops a young core alongside veterans. Clipperholics argued the team should offer Karl-Anthony Towns top dollar and should chase Anthony Black if Orlando lets him slip. Both are opinions, not reports, and neither changes what Tyronn Lue has on Wednesday: last season's 42-40 team minus its leading scorer.
When do the Clippers open the 2026-27 season?
Wednesday, October 21, at home against the Kings. They then visit the Lakers on October 23 and the Thunder on October 25.
When is Brandon Ingram expected back?
His listed return estimate is November 8. He returned to on-court work on October 15, but no game date has been announced.
