Rumor Check: Christie Is Back, Ingram's Debut Still Has No Date

Most of October's Clippers reports held up. The open ones are paperwork, and the cap sheet leaves little to chase.

By the Clippers Nightly Desk · Thursday, October 22

Nearly every roster report from the past two weeks has been confirmed, and the one still listed open has already played out on the floor. The real limit on any new move is a payroll with modest room under the tax and almost no draft capital to attach.

$188.9M: Payroll

The roster churn was real, and most of it is settled.

Hoops Rumors reported on October 17 that the Clippers cut Blake Wesley and three others, and that report is confirmed. So is the October 15 report that the club signed Miye Oni and Nathan Mensah and waived Fletcher Loyer, though Oni, Mensah, Wesley and Jahmyl Telfort had all left by October 18. The Yuki Kawamura waiver, scored at confidence 44, and the Cam Christie waiver, scored at 45, both held. Here a low score meant thin sourcing on routine moves, not bad information.

Christie's two-way return is still listed open, but he is already back.

The October 16 report that Christie was re-signing on a two-way contract sits at confidence 38 and remains open. He rejoined the roster on October 17 and was on the floor at the final horn of the 121-96 win over Sacramento. Call it resolved in practice. The open tag is a formality, and the 21-year-old guard is part of the depth count while five teammates are out.

Ingram's return to the floor is confirmed, but his debut date is not.

The October 15 report that Brandon Ingram was back working on the floor is confirmed. That is progress on a partially torn Achilles, but no games-return date has been given. The injury list projects November 8 for Ingram, the same mark it shows for Bradley Beal and Max Strus. Treat that as a placeholder, not a timeline.

The cap sheet allows tinkering, not a swing.

Payroll stands at $188.9M, over the cap and below the $200.4M luxury tax threshold. That margin covers depth moves, but there is little to trade with: the 2029 and 2030 firsts are forfeited, the 2027 and 2028 firsts are swaps, and seconds are owed to Utah and San Antonio. Any bigger deal would have to start with Garland's $42.2M or Ingram's $40.0M, and no current report points that way. The two leftover items, an October 15 report on Denver's Strawther undergoing an MRI and an October 8 minor-moves item still open at confidence 28, are noise for this roster.

Is Cam Christie back with the Clippers?

Yes. He rejoined the roster on October 17 after a reported two-way re-signing, though that report is still listed as open.

When will Brandon Ingram make his season debut?

No date has been given. He is back working on the floor, and the injury list projects November 8.
