The transaction wire moved before the box score did. Los Angeles waived William Kyle III and signed Rafael Castro to an Exhibit 10 contract, a bottom-of-the-roster swap that landed two days after the Lakers closed out Sacramento for the second time in four nights.

The Swap at the Edges

Dave McMenamin reported the move: Castro in on an Exhibit 10 deal, Kyle out to clear the spot. It is camp-roster business, not a headline for the regular rotation, but it keeps the active count at twenty-one and signals Kyle did not do enough across two preseason wins over the Kings to hold his place.

Sweeping the Kings

Los Angeles beat Sacramento twice in four days, 127-103 on October 5 and 114-110 on October 8, with Doncic closing out the second win: 23 points on 6-for-16 shooting, nine-for-nine from the line, five turnovers, plus-8 in 25 minutes. The bench matched the starters point for point, 53 each, with Mamukelashvili scoring 19 as a reserve and LaRavia adding 17.

Six Names on the Ledger

Dalton Knecht, Ziaire Williams, Cameron Carr, Collin Sexton, Arthur Kaluma and Walker Kessler are all Day-To-Day, each with an estimated return of October 13, the same date Golden State visits for the next preseason game. Kessler, limited to five games last season, is the name to watch; if all six clear in time, Redick gets his first full look at the group he has built before the regular-season opener on October 21, also against the Warriors.

What happened with Rafael Castro and William Kyle III?

The Lakers signed Castro to an Exhibit 10 contract and waived Kyle to open the roster spot, a camp-level move reported October 10.

When do the Lakers play next?

They host the Warriors on October 13 in their next preseason game, then open the regular season against Golden State again on October 21.
