The most concrete news this week was financial, not speculative: Phoenix locked in team options on two young players while Dillon Brooks picked up a DUI charge that has nothing to do with the cap sheet. Every other report floating around camp is small money, bench-level signings that don't move Phoenix's spending problem one inch.

Dunn, Maluach options. Hoopsrumors reported October 1 that Phoenix exercised its 2027-28 team options on Ryan Dunn and Khaman Maluach, locking both into next season's cheap rookie-scale money. The report carries no confidence score and sits open, but picking up a cost-controlled option is a formality teams rarely skip.
Brooks' DUI charge. Hoopsrumors flagged the charge September 30, and outlets including ESPN, The Athletic and azfamily each confirmed Brooks was charged with driving under the influence, a charge connected to his arrest back in March. The case is still open, with no court date or team statement noted yet.
Reath's path to Phoenix. A September 17 report pegged Reath's signing at just 35 percent confidence; by September 26 a follow-up said the move was done, and Reath had already joined the team the day before. He is now a center on the depth chart, but a right foot and leg issue popped up the same day he signed.
Camp deals, closed out. Two September signings are already settled: Jordan Schakel was signed and waived on September 17, and David Stockton's camp deal alongside Jules Bernard was confirmed September 18. Neither is still with Phoenix, just roster paperwork clearing the way for players who stuck, like Kennedy Chandler and Phillip Wheeler.
Alex Len, overseas. A lower-confidence report, 32 percent, has Alex Len signing a two-year deal with Baskonia. It is open and unconfirmed, and it has nothing to do with Phoenix's own center question, Mark Williams' recovery or Reath's foot issue, both of which matter far more to the rotation.
What the books allow. Phoenix carries $216.2 million in payroll against a $200.4 million luxury-tax line, a gap that leaves Ishbia's front office paying a bill before it even considers a trade. Add owed and swapped picks through 2030, and cheap options like Dunn and Maluach are the kind of move this roster can still afford.
Is Dillon Brooks facing a suspension?
No suspension has been reported. Brooks was charged with a DUI misdemeanor stemming from an arrest made in March, and the case remains open.
Did the Suns actually sign Duop Reath?
Yes. The initial report carried only 35 percent confidence, but Reath officially joined the team September 25 and is now on the depth chart, though he is currently day-to-day with a foot and leg issue.
