Golden State's camp cuts are noise; the calendar and the knee timelines are what actually shape the season ahead.

Obi Agbim became the latest player to sign and leave Golden State's camp roster, a move Hoops Rumors filed alongside similar cuts across the league. With preseason opening Oct. 4 and Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody not expected back until Dec. 1, the roster that actually matters is smaller and more fragile than the one churning at the edges.

Another Name Leaves, Same Pattern

Obi Agbim signed a training camp deal on Sept. 19 and left the Warriors on Sept. 23, one of several such moves across the league this week; Hoops Rumors grouped Golden State with the Hornets and Nuggets in a single roundup of teams making cuts. It is the kind of transaction that says more about roster mechanics than about the team's plan.

The Injuries That Actually Matter

Jimmy Butler III's knee trouble is on the right side, Moody's on the left, and both are estimated to return Dec. 1. That is six weeks into the regular season, which means the camp math at the edges of the roster is a side story next to who is actually available to play.

A Calendar That Finally Counts

Preseason begins Oct. 4 at the Clippers, runs through games against the Lakers, Trail Blazers and Kings, and the regular season begins Oct. 21 against the Lakers, on ESPN. None of it will include Butler or Moody, so whatever Golden State shows in October is a preview missing two starters.

The Open Question

Golden State's payroll is $223.3 million, above the second apron, built to keep Curry, Green and Butler together into their late thirties. Camp hasn't answered whether that group, short two rotation pieces for six weeks, can bank enough once healthy to make the price worth it.
