Warriors erase 13-point hole, turn 29 Lakers turnovers into a Vegas win
Golden State beat the Lakers 101-89 in a preseason game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, rallying from a 13-point second-quarter deficit behind a 29-13 fourth quarter. The Warriors forced 29 Lakers turnovers and turned them into 26 points, more than enough to offset a Lakers team that shot better and dominated the paint. Preseason records don't count anywhere, but it's Golden State's second win over Los Angeles this fall after a 124-98 result on October 6.

Los Angeles led 63-50 at halftime after a 34-point second quarter and pushed that to a game-high 20 points at its peak. Golden State cut it to 76-72 with a 22-13 third quarter, then took over with a 29-13 fourth to close the game 101-89. The Warriors' biggest lead of the night was only 12 points, and it came in that final frame — meaning Los Angeles was ahead or within a possession for almost the entire game until the last few minutes.

Austin Reaves led everyone with 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting with 7 assists, though he also had 7 turnovers. Walker Kessler added 11 points and 9 rebounds with a team-best plus-15, and Sandro Mamukelashvili came off the bench for 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. For Golden State, no one hit 20: Yaxel Lendeborg and Brandin Podziemski each scored 17, Stephen Curry had 11 in just 22.6 minutes, and Will Richard added 9 points on 3-of-4 from three in under 15 minutes off the bench.

The Lakers actually won the shooting and paint battles — 43.4% from the field to Golden State's 39.3%, and 46 points in the paint to the Warriors' 34. But Los Angeles turned it over 29 times to Golden State's 20, and the Warriors' 20 steals helped produce a 26-18 edge in points off turnovers. Golden State's bench also outscored the Lakers' bench 38-33. Those two categories were enough to overcome the Lakers' better shooting night.

Nothing changes in any standings — both teams are still 0-0, and this was a preseason game in Las Vegas. For the Lakers, Reaves's 28-point night came with costly turnovers, and Jaden Hardy struggled off the bench at 3-of-9 shooting with a team-worst minus-11, while Kessler's two-way game stood out. For the Warriors, it's a second straight preseason win over Los Angeles, with role players like Lendeborg, Podziemski and Richard doing the scoring while Curry played a limited 22.6 minutes.
