The two Orlando reports worth reading both carry Anthony Black's name, and neither describes a move. The confirmed items are roster trims, and a $218.1M payroll explains why the open ones stay open.

The Windhorst item is the strongest report, but it names no deal.
Brian Windhorst's October 16 report grouped the Magic with Seattle, Karl-Anthony Towns and Black. It carries a confidence score of 69, the highest on Orlando's board, and it is still open. Nothing in it describes a trade, a target or terms. Read it as Black's name being in circulation, not as a move in progress. Stein's October 19 roundup, which Hoops Rumors aggregated and which also lists Black, scores 51 and is open as well.
Black's contract status is the real backdrop.
Per Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel, Orlando and Black did not reach a rookie-scale extension before Monday's 6 p.m. deadline, so he is headed to restricted free agency after the season. RealGM had reported the Magic were not expected to extend him. That is why his name keeps surfacing. Black, 22, averaged 15.0 points on 33.3% from three last season, and his next step is a jumper that makes him hard to price out. He sits out the opener with his right ankle and is listed to return October 23.
The confirmed items are roster trims, and the stale one can be retired.
The report that Orlando waived Malaki Branham, JD Davison and Kevin Knox is confirmed, and all three were gone by October 18. That makes the September 24 item on Knox joining on an Exhibit 10 deal, scored 20, moot. The October 17 report of a partial tear in Penda's right hamstring, scored 41, matches the team's own listing: Penda is out, with November 18 as his listed return. Penda told the Sentinel the hamstring feels really sore and he is unsure how long he will be out.
The cap sheet makes a big move hard to build.
Orlando's payroll is $218.1M, over the $200.4M luxury-tax line and over the first apron. Wagner ($41.8M), Banchero ($41.5M), Bane ($39.4M) and Suggs ($32.4M) eat most of it. The pick cupboard is thin too: the 2028 first is owed to Portland, the 2030 first to Memphis, and the 2029 first is protected. Only the 2027 first is unencumbered. Until a report names a partner and a price, the Black chatter is a contract story, not a trade.
Are the Magic trading Anthony Black?
No trade has been reported. Windhorst and Stein both mentioned Black in October reports that remain open, and he is headed to restricted free agency after the extension deadline passed without a deal.
When will Noah Penda return from his hamstring tear?
Penda is out with a partially torn right hamstring and is listed to return November 18. He has said he is unsure how long he will be out.
