ESPN reported Oct. 8 that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has joined an ownership group holding a stake in Atletico Madrid, a business move landing as four Thunder regulars sit day-to-day. Oklahoma City is still 0-0 ahead of the 2026-27 season, with preseason resuming Oct. 12 at the Hawks.

A Business Move Off The Court

ESPN's Alex Kirkland reported Oct. 8 that Gilgeous-Alexander has bought into an ownership group at Atletico Madrid, a stake confirmed by the outlet rather than the Thunder. The deal has no bearing on his status for Oklahoma City, which still has not played a 2026-27 game.

Four Names On The Injury List

Isaiah Hartenstein, Jaylin Williams, Thomas Sorber and Chet Holmgren are all listed day-to-day, each with an estimated return of Oct. 12, the date Oklahoma City visits the Hawks. That timeline would have all four back for the preseason trip, though none has been formally cleared yet.

Minutes Climb Without Starters

Last season, Alex Caruso and Jared McCain each saw their roles grow when a teammate sat, Caruso up 10 minutes a night and McCain up 11 across three-game stretches. With four regulars day-to-day now, that depth matters again as the preseason schedule runs through the Pacers on Oct. 13 and the Rockets on Oct. 15 on NBA TV, before the regular-season opener at the Spurs on Oct. 20 on NBC/Peacock.

When do the Thunder play next?

Oklahoma City visits the Hawks on Oct. 12, with preseason games against the Pacers on Oct. 13 and the Rockets on Oct. 15 before the regular-season opener at the Spurs on Oct. 20.
