Every Warriors era has swapped out the names around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, and this week's camp moves are that same story at its smallest scale.
On September 19, Golden State waived Jacksen Moni and signed Nick Boyd and Elias Ralph, ordinary roster churn before camp opens. It is a small echo of a much older franchise habit: the faces around the identity change constantly, while the identity itself does not.

It carries none of the stakes of the Durant departure or the Sprewell trade, but it is the same mechanism: the cast around the core turns over constantly, while Curry, now in his 17th season, and Green, in his 14th, remain the through line.
The identity has to hold without two starters
Jimmy Butler is out with a right knee injury; Moses Moody is out with a left knee injury, both with an estimated return of December 1. Butler averaged 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season; Moody shot 40.1 percent from three. Camp and preseason will lean on Curry, Green and the rest of the group to carry the shooting identity the franchise built decades ago, before either man is back.
What the archives suggest
The franchise has absorbed bigger losses than a waived camp body and survived, because the identity was never about who filled the fifth spot. It was about shooting more threes, and better, than anyone else. That is still the bet with Curry at 38 and Green at 36, whatever names sit at the end of the bench in October.
