The Camp Roster Is Set. The Best Lineup From Last Season Isn't.

Golden State's training camp group is official, but last season's most productive five-man lineup can't be run back — one piece is gone, another isn't healthy until December.

The Warriors signed Miles Kelly to an Exhibit 10 contract and, per RealGM, released Nick Boyd as they finalized their camp roster for Hawaii. Butler and Moody are both out until December 1 with knee injuries, leaving Kerr to sort minutes without two of last season's top scorers before a single preseason possession.

A Roster on Paper, Finally

Warriors.com made it official this week: the training camp roster and Hawaii schedule are set. Hoops Rumors reported the club signed Miles Kelly on an Exhibit 10 deal, and RealGM reported the same move came with Nick Boyd's release. Dalen Terry, Alex Toohey and Kelly head to Hawaii as camp invites, not roster locks, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Dalton Johnson.

The Lineup That Can't Come Back

Last season's best five-man group by net rating was Curry, Butler, Green, Podziemski and Kuminga: plus-16.9 over 65 minutes, the top mark of any regular lineup. It won't run again. Kuminga isn't on this year's roster, and Butler is out until December 1 regardless, recovering from a right knee injury. Moody, who shot 40.1 percent from three last season, is targeting the same return date.

Camp to Tip-Off, Fast

Preseason opens October 4 at the Clippers, then the Lakers on October 6, Portland on October 7 and Sacramento on October 10 — four games to sort a rotation before the regular season opens October 21 at the Lakers on ESPN. Three weeks separate an official roster from a game that counts.

Who Takes the Open Minutes

With Butler and Moody unavailable into December and no Kuminga on the roster, the wing minutes have to go somewhere. Melton, Payton II and Podziemski are the returning options, and invites Terry and Toohey get real reps in Hawaii to make a case. The group photo will look complete. The rotation won't be.

When does Warriors preseason start?
