Guard Koby Brea is off the Phoenix Suns roster as of Monday, Oct. 19, according to the official roster. The Suns carry a $216.2M payroll, over the first apron, and have 17 players on the roster.
The move
Koby Brea, a 23-year-old guard, leaves the Phoenix Suns roster. The change showed up on the official roster on Monday, Oct. 19. He is now off the roster. Earlier that day, John Gambadoro reported that CJ Huntley was waived by the Suns, with confidence at 50 percent. That report names Huntley, not Brea. Whether Brea was waived, traded or released is not announced, and where he goes next is not announced.
The money
Brea's contract is not on file yet. Public salary data can lag a move by a day, so his cap hit and years are not announced here. The Suns are at $216.2M across 18 contracts for 2026-27. That is over the first apron of $209.0M and under the second apron of $221.7M. It is also above the tax line of $200.4M and the cap of $165.0M. Phoenix sits $7.2M over the first apron.
The fit
Brea played 12 games for Phoenix last season. He averaged 7.0 minutes, 3.8 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists. The Suns' guard rotation last season ran through Devin Booker at 33.5 minutes and 26.1 points, then Grayson Allen at 28.8 and Collin Gillespie at 28.5. Jalen Green played 25.9 minutes and Jordan Goodwin 22.5. Phoenix has 17 players on the roster, against a standard limit of 15 plus 3 two-way players.
