Gui Santos has been cleared from day-to-day status, the Golden State Warriors' injury report showed Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:16 PM ET. The forward had carried a day-to-day tag for a left knee issue earlier that day, and the clearance removes him from the injury report ahead of the team's game against the Trail Blazers.

What happened

The Warriors' injury report listed Gui Santos as cleared as of Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:16 PM ET, moving off a day-to-day designation for a left knee issue. He had been day-to-day for rest on Wednesday, Oct. 7, then was cleared from that status on Saturday, Oct. 10, before the left knee issue surfaced and he was again listed day-to-day on Oct. 16. The report does not include a comment on the knee issue, and no expected return date beyond the clearance was announced.

What it means for the Warriors

The clearance comes with the Warriors facing the Trail Blazers on Friday, Oct. 16 at 10:00 PM ET. Golden State has not started its 2026-27 regular season and sits at 0-0, with no games played yet to show a record with or without Santos. Last season, Santos averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 20.5 minutes across 68 games. In games he has missed, the Warriors' rotation has leaned on Jimmy Butler III (31.1 minutes, 20.0 points), Stephen Curry (30.9 minutes, 26.6 points), Brandin Podziemski (28.5 minutes, 13.8 points), Draymond Green (27.5 minutes, 8.4 points), Moses Moody (25.7 minutes, 12.1 points), Jonathan Kuminga (23.8 minutes, 12.1 points), Kristaps Porzingis (23.7 minutes, 16.1 points) and De'Anthony Melton (23.0 minutes, 12.3 points).

What to watch

No expected return timeline was announced beyond Friday's clearance, since Santos is no longer listed with a status. The next injury report will show whether he stays off it as the Warriors close out their schedule before the 2026-27 regular season opens. Golden State's report also currently lists Al Horford day-to-day for rest, and Kristaps Porzingis, Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody as out.
