Bulls Notebook: Mallette Out of Camp, Preseason Dates Set

Mallette out. Houston Mallette is no longer with the Bulls as of Friday, cut loose after joining camp on September 22. The move leaves Chicago's non-guaranteed camp bodies thinner heading into preseason.

Camp still shorthanded. Dailyn Swain, Zach Collins, Josh Giddey and Rob Dillingham are all still day-to-day, each carrying the same estimated return of October 1. That lands five days before the first exhibition, tight but workable if nothing lingers.

Preseason set. The exhibition slate opens October 7 against the Suns, followed by the Grizzlies on the 9th, a trip to Denver on the 11th on ESPN, and Milwaukee on the 14th. The regular season starts October 21 at Toronto.

Suder's case. Peter Suder joined camp on a two-way deal, and Pippen Ain't Easy argued this week that he might already be the Bulls' answer at that spot without another signing. The two-way slot is worth watching once real cuts start.

Wilson's reality check. Pippen Ain't Easy flagged a public reality check in Caleb Wilson's NBA Rank debut this week, even as Bulls.com talks him up as a player who can be that guy. Camp will start answering which read is closer.

Giddey off the floor. Giddey and the Bulls opened a new game room at Ronald McDonald House this week, community work that has nothing to do with his ankle but keeps his name up while he's held out of camp reps.
