Cason Wallace is day-to-day with a rest issue, the second time in six days the Thunder guard has carried that label after being cleared on Oct. 7. He is in line to play Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks, which puts his status for Monday's preseason trip to Atlanta in question.

What happened

Cason Wallace appeared on the injury report Saturday at 3:28 p.m. ET as day-to-day with a rest issue, listed as 'Rest · Other.' It is the second time in less than a week the guard has carried that tag: he was day-to-day for rest on Oct. 5, then cleared on Oct. 7, before landing back on the report Saturday. Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman reports Wallace is in line to play Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks. No previous status was attached to Saturday's listing, and no further detail on the rest issue has been announced.

What it means for the Thunder

Oklahoma City is scheduled to play at the Hawks on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, a preseason game Wallace's rest-day tag puts in question given his target of Wednesday's game against the Bucks. Wallace averaged 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 26.6 minutes across 77 games last season, working as a rotation guard alongside the Thunder's stars. If he sits, backcourt minutes typically covered by him would likely shift to Ajay Mitchell, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins, who have been logging 25.8, 21.2 and 21.8 minutes per game, respectively, in the rotation tracked so far. The Thunder have not played a regular-season game yet, so there is no record with or without Wallace to cite this season.

What to watch

The Thunder will update Wallace's status on the next injury report, which typically shifts as game day nears. He is expected back for Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks, per the report's target of Oct. 13. Oklahoma City also has several other players carrying day-to-day rest tags, so additional lineup changes are possible before Monday's game at the Hawks and Wednesday's game against the Bucks.

Is Cason Wallace playing at the Hawks on Oct. 12?

Wallace is day-to-day with a rest issue as of Saturday and is in line to play Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks; his availability for Monday's game at the Hawks has not been announced.

When will Cason Wallace be back?

The expected return is Wednesday, Oct. 13, for the preseason game against the Bucks, per the injury report.
