Ayo Dosunmu is no longer day-to-day and has been cleared, per the Timberwolves' injury report issued Monday at 7:40 p.m. ET. He is available for Minnesota's season opener Monday at the Knicks.
What happened
Dosunmu was cleared Monday, Oct. 12 at 7:40 p.m. ET, moving off the day-to-day tag he had carried. He first showed up on the injury report Saturday, Oct. 10 as day-to-day with a rest designation, was listed day-to-day again Monday, and was then updated to cleared later that same day. The report lists no detail and no comment on the change, and no expected return was ever attached since he was not ruled out at any point.
What it means for the Timberwolves
Minnesota opens its season Monday at the Knicks at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV, and Dosunmu is available for it. Last season he averaged 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 27.3 minutes across 69 games, giving the Timberwolves a backcourt piece alongside Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley. His clearance carries more weight with Donte DiVincenzo also on the injury report, out with a right Achilles issue, which thins Minnesota's guard depth. The Timberwolves have not played a game this season, so there is no record with or without Dosunmu yet.
What to watch
The next injury report will show whether Dosunmu's clearance holds into the games after the opener. No expected return timeline was ever attached to his day-to-day stint, since the designation is now moot. Minnesota is also tracking Donte DiVincenzo's right Achilles issue and day-to-day listings for Jonathan Kuminga, Rocco Zikarsky and Enrique Freeman as the season begins.
