What it means for the Thunder

Oklahoma City is scheduled to play at the Rockets on Thursday at 8:30 PM ET on NBA TV, and Oweh's status for that game has not been announced. The 2026-27 regular season has not started, so the Thunder are 0-0 with no season averages yet for Oweh. If he sits, backcourt minutes could lean more on Ajay Mitchell, who has averaged 25.8 minutes and 13.6 points, and Cason Wallace, at 26.6 minutes and 8.6 points, with Aaron Wiggins at 21.8 minutes and 9.4 points also in the mix. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, at 33.2 minutes and 31.1 points, and Jalen Williams, at 28.4 minutes and 17.1 points, remain the top minute earners regardless.

What to watch

The Thunder have not said whether Oweh will play Thursday at Houston, and the injury report lists an expected return date of Oct. 15, the same day as that game. Oweh is one of several Thunder players listed day-to-day on the current report, along with Ajay Mitchell (rest), Jaylin Williams (heel), Thomas Sorber (knee) and Chet Holmgren (quadriceps). His next listing on the injury report will show whether the right leg injury has cleared.
